Reflective Text – Prejudice

Prejudice and stereotyping are very similar to each other, although there are some minor differences.

Prejudice is more of an opinion towards someone and how they live and its often negative thoughts. Stereoptypes are more an image as how u see a certain group of people, such as for example people living in Africa or South Africa. If you ask people what kind of people the think live there most people would say dark skinned people, but in South Africa there is actually a mix between dark skinned people and white skinned people as of now.

I think having negative thoughts about someone and spreading it creates stereotypes, if enough people start to use it and spread it eventually everybody will start to talk the same and talk the same about different people.

In the TED Talk about Tui Raven she talks about how someone told her she was “pretty for an aboriginal person” quoting that aboriginal people arent usually nice to look at, this guy had then followed a stereotype that aboriginal people are usually ugly looking. Stereotypes are basically made up false stories which sometimes makes fun of people, sometimes talks bad about about people and they might also be some nice stereotypes.

Bushfire poem

The poem is about the wildfires in Australia, hes writing about how horrible it is,

The peom really catches you off guard with how real it it.

Ben is Australian or as they call it, hes an Auzzie and because he was born there he would also have alot of connection with the country. Its is like a part of his identity.

What makes this a poem, poems are usually built around rimes and langos that match and rime

He has ryhmes in every sentence.

He mentions multiple australian stereotypes such as: Aussie and g’day.

I think the poem was nice, he put alot of thought into it as he was on the edge og crying halfway trough, it was quite long which in i think poems should be in the shorter side but overall good.

I think he has very strong opinions about the wildfires and that he is very much affected by all the killed animals and plants.

Task 2

Hey, Noor

I can tell by your text that you are frustrated with your school, I think writing and e-mail to them is very smart of you if you want change, but I think you should change up your writing style just a little bit.

First of all, I think you should write with more respect, your school might want to give you school trips and fun activities but are unable to because of money trouble or something else.

Would you go up to someone you knew had trouble with money and beg them to buy stuff for you?

I do think schools should have school’s trips and they might be boring, but they are educational which is the main point of going to these trips.

You also use way to many exclamation marks which looks childish and they might just not look at your email because of childish looking behavior. If you clean up your writing and stop writing with slang and talk with more formal words they might take your application serious and take you to more trips!

During Baldwins teen years he started to recognise his sexuality, in 1948 he became disillusioned of black and gay people and left America so he could move to Paris, France. He did this not just as a wish but also to distance himself from prejudices as the council of American society.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
